anyone ever just go to a place that does alignments and give them the specs you want?
I dont want factory alignment specs on the miata. I want mad custom race cars specs.

Well not really just want to use Flyin Miata recommended specs.

Will they do it? Do they care? Will they refuse and blather on about insurance etc?

depends on the shop. every shop I've been to accepts specific specs though, it's worth a shot.

Ask a local racing club. Here Cambodian tires does do race specs.

I've used the Firestone lifetime alignment thing for years and they'll always go to whatever spec I ask.

Depends. Most corporate shops will tell you that they can't when in reality they're just lazy. I found one in my area that will do it for me. Most privately owned shops will do it, but don't plan on paying for the "normal" alignment since it's going to take them alot more time to dial in your specs than if they were just adjusting the toe.

I have a Firestone lifetime alignment and the shop I was going to got lazy and won't go to the specs I want(FM alignment). When I gave them the sheet and told them to do those specs the manager put it to factory and then bitched about it being a difficult alignment or something and that they would want a half hour of shop time to do it. I said that I wanted those specs and that I would pay, but they said it was too late in the day and that I'd have to come back. I still need to go and get it put to the right specs. It rightly pissed me off that they didn't even bother to tell me that they did that instead of asking if I'd like to pay to get it right.

Like others said, ask around a local scca/autocross/whatever and find where they go. Check out 949 racing's alignment specs too. I think that's what I want to try next instead of the FM specs I've had it at.

Call them up before you go in, and tell them exactly what you want to do. Most chain tire/wheel places won't do custom specs. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a mom and pop type place that can do it for you though.

I know. I haven't been on in a month and have only actually done two races with guidance. I've been meaning to get back. Thanks for the reminder.

If you havent been on in a month you may have been kicked off. You can only miss so many races before it auto kicks, but you can rejoin if you like i think, since pro tier opened we have space a plenty.
